The Gathering of Eagles Foundation is honored to recognize United States Air Force Lieutenant General (Retired) Michelle D. Johnson, as a 2020 Air & Space Power Legend. During her 36 year career, Lt Gen Johnson helped to forge many social and organizational changes within a historically male-dominated military profession. In 2013, General Johnson became the first woman to lead a United States Department of Defense Service Academy, the Air Force Academy, her alma mater. As an Air Force Cadet, Lt General Johnson was a distinguished student-athlete. She became the United States Air Force Academy’s first female Cadet Wing commander and twice earned Academic All-American distinction for the academy’s basketball team. Both these accomplishments led to her selection as the academy’s only female National Collegiate Athletic Association Academic All-American Hall of Fame – one of six academy graduates to be honored with that distinction. Lt. Gen Johnson has more than 3,600 flying hours in multiple airframes including the KC-10 and C-141. The GOEF and RangerUp present this shirt in honor of Lieutenant General Johnson, and the legacy of the United States Air Force Academy.
Proceeds from GOEF shirt sales are placed directly back into the GOE Future Eagles Scholarship Program. We invite you to help us honor airpower’s heritage and forge future aviation leaders through your purchase or individual donation. Please visit us at www.goefoundation.org to learn more.
