The 21st Bombardment Squadron (Heavy) experienced some of the most trying conditions for bombers during WWII. It was one of a small number of USAAF units in the Pacific and it became one of the first squadrons to make a land-based attack on the Japanese home islands after the Doolittle Raiders.
