The 532^nd Bombardment Squadron (Heavy) was activated in 1942. Once they were spun up, they took their B 17s to Europe where they dropped copious amounts of explody eggs about the theatre of operations. The 532^nd was active around Normandy, Northern France, Rhineland, and other parts of central Europe and were instrumental in supporting American infantry during the Battle of the Bulge.

They live on today as the 532^nd Training Squadron out of Vandenberg AFB.
