Harlem Hellfighters T-Shirt
Harlem Hellfighters T-Shirt
The Harlem Hellfighters of the 369th Infantry Regiment was the first African American Regiment to serve with the American Expeditionary Forces during World War I, and they set the mark high.
The nickname "Hell Fighters" was given to them by the Germans because of their absurd tenacity and toughness. They never lost a man through capture, never lost a trench, and never surrendered a foot of ground to the enemy. In short, once the Hellfighters were in place, they would not be moved.
These men were a credit to their country and they took on the symbol of the Revolutionary War as their hallmark - the coiled rattlesnake. The penalty for attempting to tread on the Harlem Hellfighters was severe.
