Paratrooper Poppy Field Memorial T-Shirt
Paratrooper Poppy Field Memorial T-Shirt
This shirt is inspired by the 1918 poem "We Shall Keep the Faith" by Moina Michael about Flander's Field from World War I. There is a belief that when the men of World War I were lost in battle, a poppy grew where they had fallen. Since WWI, many in England, Australia, Canada, and the United States don a poppy in remembrance of those who came before and sacrificed all so that we may live. The shirt shows paratroopers falling from the sky. As they get closer to the ground, their chutes morph into the poppies and finally the men themselves disappear into the field of poppies. They are gone, but their memory remains. The back of the shirt features an excerpt from the poem: We cherish, too, the Poppy red That grows on fields where valor led; It seems to signal to the skies That blood of heroes never dies.
